The Lock Challenge
Move from lock to lock along the Cotswold canals.
Join us in the The Lock Challenge on May 13th this year. We will be starting at St Cyr’s Church in Stonehouse to run, walk or move whichever way you do along the Stroudwater Canal. Some of our routes take you through ‘the missing mile’. This stretch of canal was filled in when the M5 motorway was constructed and the partners at Cotswold Canals Connected will be digging a totally new stretch of canal as part of the project. This is an opportunity to see the site for the last time before work begins on it. Next time the event happens participants will be running along brand new canal!
We have a 10 mile run and a 10 mile walk, a 5 mile run and a 5 mile walk, a 5km run and a 3km route that is fully accessible and suitable for everyone.
The start and finish line will be at St Cyr’s Church in Stonehouse where there will also be refreshments for participants and supporters.
We want this event to be open to as many people as possible. There will be a Mobiloo, and an accessible toilet. Boatmobility will be at the landing station near St Cyr’s offering fully accessible boat trips on their new vessel ‘Symphony’.
Parking for Blue Badge holders in Church Lane, we also have kindly been offered the use of the car park at Bond’s Mill Trading Estate for participants.
